Man of steel

man of steel

The man of steel is a action,adventure,fantasy,sci-fi film. in the opening sequence of the man of steel there is loud music in the opening scene which is a steady rhythm suggesting to the audience that the film is not a fast pace film. a little bit after the music starts a man starts to talk as if he is reading the news through a radio which could suggest to the audience what year it is. in the opening scene there are a lot of wide shots which help set the scene where most of the film is going to be based which gives the viewer a good idea of where the film is going to be set. there is a close up shot of a mans chest showing the viewer that he is the main character also it shows that he has a strong influence in the film. the last shot is of a man hovering in the air this also shows that that is the main character in the film also gives a bit away to the audience of his super powers. at the end of the clip there is an S shape just after the shot of the man hovering in the air this suggests to the audience that the S is the symbol of the man. after the S the title of the film appears out of the darkness which suggests to the viewer that the man is a symbol for good and hope it also suggests that only good will rise as the dark falls.
man of steal is aimed at a wide range of audiences but mainly teenagers and young adults it is also mainly aimed at a male audience but the occasional female can view it. it targets the male audience because the male audience likes fighting scenes and they enjoy being made to feel like a hero where as the typical female audience enjoys romantic films where there is hardly any fighting this is why the film has a lot of fighting in it and as the younger audiences (teenagers and young adults) are more destructive than older audiences it appeals to them more because they can relate to it.
the film begins with alot of long shots this is because the director wants to quickly tell the audience who "super man" is and how he got to earth so the audience is prepared for the story however the film is aimed at the fans of superman so it is generally for the people who have never seen a superman movie or read the superman comic books it also allows the audience to see where the film is set and based it also allows the fans of superman to see and identify the locations of which super man has been famous for, for example the daily planet in metropolis. the music in superman is non diagetic the theme music is dominant but there is speech speaking about superman this is to get the audience including the fans of super man to be excited for the film to actually start. the last shot finally showed super man after a close up of his chest the shot of his chest was to hold the suspense between the audience and the film because the audience really wants to see what the man of steel (superman) looks like. as super man is shown the shot is a wide long shot this is so the audience can see the main character over looking the city this tells the viewer straight away that he is the main character and he has to protect the city from harm, the viewer can tell that he is the main character because he is the first character to be shown in full view and he had a close up on him so that the viewer could identify that he was the main character. when the camera was showing long shots of various locations the lighting used was all naturally made by the sun this lights up the whole scene and grabs the viewers attention.
whilst the film was playing the text that came up was thin this is so the viewer is mainly concentrating on the scene and not the text because the scene is more important where as when the film title came up it was with a black background this is so it would catch the viewers eye when watching the film, to make sure that the film title grabbed the viewers attention the main title was made to look silver and shiny just like steal which makes the audience compare the actual title of the film "MAN OF STEAL" with what it looks like so the audience can focus on it more.
