Star Trek into darkness

star trek into darkness

star trek in to darkness is a sci fy film. the opening scene starts of with non diagetic sound which then quickly changes to diagetic this creates a deep tension feeling with the viewer which gets them all excited about the film. the audience can easily identify who is the main character because the camera focuses on them and keeps them in the centre of the shot suggesting that they are important to the films story line, in star trek into darkness there is more than one main character as the story line follows a group of characters however the audience can easily pick out which characters are the important ones as the dialogue of the characters determines which one the audience prefer and is most popular and therefore is the important character because the idea of them saying what they did is to grab the viewers attention and get them to warm up to them. most shots are medium or long shots this is because at the opening scene the characters are on a alien planet and the director wants to show the audience as much of the planet as possible because the viewer is a fan of sci fy which is to do with aliens and other planets so the director wants to give the audience what they paid to see. the typical audience for star trek into darkness would be adults this is because the older generation were around when the TV show of star trek was on so they want to go see it because they want to relive there happy memory's of when they were kids  watching star trek the adults might bring along there children and teenagers as well so that they can pass on there memory's but it would generally be adults.
the opening scene starts off in the middle of a chase scene this gets the audience thinking what is going on? and what is happening? also because it jumps straight into an action scene it gives the viewer a sense of realism and this triggers a rush of adrenaline making the viewer feel excited which gets them enjoying the film even more, because the film has a lot of fast pace action the film appeals to male audiences however the female audiences would equally enjoy it.
the first shot fades in to the opening of the film and it is an extreme long shot the director used this shot so that straight away the viewer can see that they are on an alien planet the camera then zooms in and picks out a certain character which suggests to the audience that he is the main character, when the audience first see him he is running away from the local life on the planet suggesting to the audience that he has done something wrong. the camera shots stay mostly between medium and close up but show the occasional long shot to establish where the characters are in the scene there was a extreme close up shown in the opening of the film and this was of the warning shown on a computer screen this was shown because the director wanted the audience to know that the ship was going to crash.
the technology shown in the opening of the film is way more advanced than the local life on the planet suggesting that they are not from the same planet the local life have their faces painted and use spears as weapons where as the other species use advanced guns and teleportation devices this suggests to the audience that they are a very primitive species and still have much to learn. due to the facts that one species is advanced and the other is primitive suggests to the viewer that they are not from the same planet which then goes on to suggest that they are so advanced that they have learnt how to travel through space.
the opening of the film goes straight into a fast pace chase scene this makes the viewer think that the whole film is going to be a chase scene. the chase scene being the first thing the audience sees gets the audience straight away in to the film it means that they wont be board because the film is taking a long time to become exciting and adventurous.
